KARNATAKA STATE POLICE EXAM

The Karnataka State Police (KSP) plays a crucial role in maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, and upholding the rule of law across the state. To strengthen its workforce with capable and dedicated personnel, the Karnataka State Police Department conducts regular recruitment drives for various posts such as Police Constables, Sub-Inspectors, and other specialized units. The recruitment process is designed to be transparent, merit-based, and in accordance with the rules and regulations prescribed by the Government of Karnataka. It involves a series of stages including written examinations, physical tests, medical examinations, and document verification, ensuring that only the most qualified and physically fit candidates are inducted into the force.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS

The selection typically involves the following stages:

A. Written Examination

  • Objective-type test

  • Topics:

    • General Knowledge

    • Current Affairs

    • Indian Constitution

    • History & Geography of Karnataka

    • Mental Ability / Reasoning

  • Qualifying marks vary by category.

B. Physical Standard Test (PST)

  • Measurement of height, chest (for male), and weight.

  • Minimum requirements differ for men and women, and according to category.

C. Physical Endurance Test (PET)

  • Tests physical fitness through activities such as:

    • Running (1600m or 800m based on gender)

    • Long Jump / High Jump

    • Shot Put

    • Duration and standards vary for posts.

D. Medical Examination

  • Candidates who clear PET must undergo a medical fitness test.

  • Includes vision check, physical health, etc.

E. Document Verification

  • Original documents must be produced for verification:

    • Educational certificates

    • Age proof

    • Caste/Category certificates (if applicable)

    • Domicile/residency certificate

F. Final Merit List

  • Based on marks in the written exam, PET, and reservation category.

  • Shortlisted candidates are called for training.

TRAINING

  • Selected candidates undergo police training at designated training centers.

  • Duration varies by post (usually 6 to 12 months).

  • Covers physical training, weapons training, law, investigation, and policing procedures.
